Faster SafeFAST XXL are specially customized class II microbiological safety cabinets designed to accommodate automated laboratory robots. They can also be used for example in drug preparation, sample preparation etc.

 

The design is similar to a microbiological safety cabinet suitable for the safe handling and containment of microorganisms and pathogens - as it complies with the essential requirements of the European Standard EN 12469:2000, 70% of the air is recirculated through the main Class H14 HEPA/ULPA filter inside the cabinet, while the remaining 30% is exhausted through an exhaust Class H14 HEPA/ULPA filter.

Microbiological safety cabinets in accordance with the EN 12469-2000 standard are suitable for product, personnel and environmental protection during the processing of hazardous agents pathogenic to humans and/or animals as defined in the relevant international standards and have been adopted as applications in a wide range of disciplines such as Microbiology, Virology, Haematology, Cell culture, Genetics, Processing of hazardous agents for humans or animals.

The ambient air is drawn through slots in the stainless steel base of the front opening and then passed under the work surface and drawn upwards into the plenum of the recirculation and exhaust fan(s).

 

The “biodynamic sealing system” of the negative pressure plenum ensures that all contaminated particles are retained within the system and automatically drawn into the plenum or chamber to be captured by the main recirculation and exhaust H 14 HEPA/ULPA filters. The fan system ensures that no part of the chamber enters the laboratory under positive contaminated pressure, protecting and preserving the environment and operating personnel from exposure to bio-contamination agents.

 

70% of the filtered air is recirculated downwards into the work chamber after passing through the H14 HEPA/ULPA filter in Class ISO 3 air cleanliness according to the ISO 14644-1 laminar flow pattern, and the remaining 30% is exhausted to the atmosphere through another H14 HEPA/ULPA filter.

External structure in cold rolled steel with epoxy powder coating for excellent corrosion resistance against attack by aggressive common chemicals. Alternatively, special models with external structure made of AISI 304L stainless steel for superior cleanability are available on request.

 

Rear wall in AISI 304 stainless steel, designed to comply with the requirements and to pass the 'cleanability test' according to EN12469:2000.

Reinforced segmented work surface made of AISI 304L stainless steel with SB pharmaceutical coating, for load support up to 500 kg. Easily removable to perform routine cleaning and/or autoclave sterilization procedures; closed or perforated on request.

Laminated safety front glass with aluminium frame and gas spring, openable for easy access by robots and for cleaning and routine maintenance.

Tempered side windows with service holes for cable entry and tap installation.

Circulation and exhaust fans: The SafeFAST XXL is equipped with a dual-motor fan designed and suitable for exhausting the filtered air outside the laboratory via a duct system when necessary.

 

Filtration: H14 HEPA/ULPA filters with an efficiency better than 99.995% MPPS (EN-1822).

 

Operating Status: Air purity in Class ISO 3 according to ISO:EN 14644-1.

 

The user-friendly, practical keyboard and backlit LCD continuously display all the necessary data, keeping the user informed about the working chamber conditions and, in particular:

• display of laminar air flow rate and front air barrier speed

• display of internal and external temperature

• display of the remaining life of the HEPA/ULPA filters, UV lamp and active carbon filter (if fitted)

• display of the total operating hours

• display of the saturation level of the HEPA/ULPA filters.

Audio-visual alarms provided for:

• out of range or incorrect laminar airflow velocity and front air barrier velocity

• incorrect position of front sash window

• HEPA/ULPA filter blockage

• UV lamp end of life and active carbon filter saturation (if fitted)

• exhaust duct blockage (if fitted)

• fan motor failure

• power failure

Lighting: fluorescent tubes in built-in enclosure positioned outside contaminated area

Aluminum front closing panel for sealing the chamber for sterilization/fumigation.

UV sterilization lamp (optional) mounted on the aluminum front cover panel, two switch-off countdown timers, one variable on a scale of 0-3 hours (1 minute steps), the other set to 3 fixed hours.
